If you search the SPM for "terminal", you will see a lot of options. So far from what I have been reading, the most popular and liked "hyper terminal" programs for Linux are: Cutecom, GTKterm, minicom. I provided some links below for you to look at, and some of the "hyper terminal" type programs are available in the software repositories like your Software Manager or the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) where you can install them.
